Laminitis - What to keep a check for

Separation or failure of the laminae connecting the hoof wall to the underlying structure is a serious problem. If left unattended it can result in permanent structural changes in the hoof leading to disease, lameness and severe pain.

In worse case scenario, the coffin or pedal bone rotates downwards and can puncture the sole of the hoof. This often results in the death of the horse.
